This policy describes how personal data is handled on dex.ag. It is written to be read rather than skimmed, so it is short and says what actually happens.
What is collected
Server logs. Like every web server, ours records the address a request came from, the page requested, the time, the browser identifier and the page that referred you. These records support security and basic traffic measurement.
Messages you send. If you write to the editorial address, we hold your message, your address and anything you attach, for as long as the matter is open and as a record of corrections afterwards.
Audience measurement. The site may use a measurement service to count visits and see which pages are read. Where it does, that service sets its own identifiers and receives the technical details of the request. It is used to understand which entries are useful, never to build a profile of an individual reader.
We do not ask for and do not want your name, your telephone number, your financial details or any document proving your identity. No account can be created here, because there is nothing to log into.
Why it is processed
Server logs and measurement data are processed on the basis of legitimate interest in running a secure and useful website. Correspondence is processed to answer you and to keep an accurate record of corrections to published material. Where consent is required for a non essential cookie, it is asked for before that cookie is set, and it can be withdrawn at any time.
Cookies and similar technology
Essential storage keeps the site working and your interface preferences between visits. Measurement cookies, where present, count visits. Partner links may set identifiers at the destination when you follow them, which is how a commercial arrangement is attributed.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The register itself remains fully readable with cookies disabled: nothing on this site is gated.
Who else sees the data
The hosting provider that serves these pages, the measurement service if one is active, and any commercial destination you choose to visit by following a link. Once you leave this site, the destination's own policy applies to you, and we neither control it nor receive your activity there beyond the fact that a referral happened.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share correspondence with the platforms we write about. If you send us a tip about a brand, your identity stays with the desk.
How long it is kept
Server logs are retained for a short operational period and then discarded. Correspondence about a published correction is kept while the entry stands, because it is the evidence behind a change. Measurement data is retained according to the settings of the service used, in aggregate form.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data about you is held, to receive a copy, to have it corrected or erased, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to complain to your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, write to [email protected] and describe what you want. We answer every request of this kind, and we do not require you to prove your identity with a document for a request we can satisfy without one.
Children
This site is not intended for anyone under eighteen and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the modified date at the top of the page changes with it. Continued use of the site after a change means the current version applies.
